excited? man, you kidding? francie loved kyle's energy. it matched her own, in ever respect. with her, a small little excited houndour that was nipping and yipping and having a wonderful time chasing things and hanging out with her momma fran fran.

with a small snap, she got the houndour's attention. the flame doggo gave a small bork before pushing its snout into francie's fingers, shaped like an, 'ok' sign. then, francie promptly booped the snoot before giving her houndour a snack.

she was keeping the houndour out with her because she wanted to try and train her as a ranger partner. francie had gotten quite a few new additions to her team specifically to help with her new job and she was thankful for it.

forever the rock hiker girl, but for now, a new step in a new direction, y'know?

"new year, new me, or something like that." she mumbled to herself while sitting at the coffee shop and waiting for the man of the hour to meet up with her for coffee.

"you're gonna love him. he might love you more, but that's fine."

kyle arrives at the designated meetup place in a hurry. while the suit he worse was still nicely pressed, rolled up sleeves, topmost button undone and a loose necktie suggested that kyle didn't take the last meeting he was in seriously.

entering the establishment, he frantically turns his head around in search for francie before he finds her. he heaves a sigh of relief before walking over.

"i'm not late, am i?" he asks as he approaches her.

he takes his seat and slumps right away, taking the moment's reprieve to catch his breath. despite the way he acts, it does not seem like kyle has done much work on the day yet.

"anyways, francie! long time no-- dog!"

his attention switches immediately to the dog, getting distracted easily.

the moment kyle enters, francie's attention is taken by him in full. as he walks closer, she'd about stood up to hug him but instead was pulled by her sleeve to stay by her houndour, who wants to play.

"no, you're not late." a small boop to the houndour's nose with a certain gesture has her dropping francie's sleeve. sign language training, something she's learned that the pup responds to the best.

"yes! this is ... well, she doesn't have a nickname yet. i've called her various things. but in the end nothing's fit."

picking up the pup, she hands her over toward kyle.

"want snuggles???"

kyle takes the invitation and takes the houndour from her. he holds it close to his face just enough to touch tips of their noses should the pokemon lean close, but distanced enough that he can reactively hold his head out should it snap at him.

can't be too trusting with pups. he's had enough experience with them.

"i called most of my poochyena 'poochy 1' and so on for the longest time 'till i can think of a name," he tells her. "just call her, like, dogster or something."

he would've suggested a better name if he wasn't being distracted by the houndour that he held up so close to his face. the smile on his expression was too genuine to be considered forced.
